What is Still Conversations?

Still Conversations is a conversation that takes place between Seoul and San Francisco.
.
The images look simple — a white wall, a chair and a person — but one chair is in a wooden house in San Francisco on a steep hill — the other chair is in a room in Seoul in a tall high-rise apartment building made of concrete. Sometimes when we are communicating with others we can’t imagine where they are, where they are coming from or the history that is embedded in their bodies.

Alex is in San Francisco. Mushi is in Seoul. Alex can’t imagine that after Mushi takes the image in the red chair that he steps out onto a busy street surrounded by Korean language. Mushi is in a room on a red chair and it feels that he is not far from San Francisco — not far from Alex in her white chair — he is only a chair away — or a room away. The images line up on walls — the distance and proximity that this conversation covers is invisible.
